NPR's Garrison Keillor to spend an evening with Fairbanksans
Fairbanks Daily News-Miner - Fairbanks,AK,USA - FAIRBANKS — It’s been a quiet week in Lake Wobegon.

Garrison Keillor speaks these words in his smooth, rhythmic, familiar voice every Saturday right before sharing the week’s news from this fictional Minnesota town, full of staunch Lutherans and Norwegians, and Norwegian Lutherans. Often the news seems a bit less than quiet but welcome as it floats across the radio waves into the homes and cars of loyal listeners of the radio show “A Prairie Home Companion.” Creator, writer and performer on the show, Keillor also sings praise for Bee Bop A Ree Bop Rhubarb Pie, tells of the health benefits

Carolla's the 'Dancing' casualty this week
Detroit Free Press, United States - It’s a sad day for comedy now that Adam Carolla has been booted off “Dancing With the Stars.”

The funniest celebrity ever to compete on the hit ABC show – and no, Jerry Springer isn’t a close second – was eliminated Tuesday night after getting the lowest score this week for a paso doble that began with him riding a unicycle.

The Los Angeles radio host and Jimmy Kimmel pal may not have been a natural on the ballroom floor, but he always ranked high in the hearts of viewers who like their televised prancing with a side of sardonic wit.

What will

NBC, Fox make sense for Patrick
USA Today - USA - Studio hosts get lots more on-air face time than anybody else in TV sports. So Dan Patrick, after anchoring SportsCenter for 17 years and popping up to host things such as ABC/ESPN's NBA coverage, presumably has a pretty marketable mug — rather than just a face for radio.

Patrick, leaving ESPN Aug. 17, has only announced he'll do a syndicated radio show and said he doesn't "have any magic potion that says I know what I'm doing."

So where would he fit in? Handicapping the prospects:

•NBC. NBC's Olympic announcing lineup, with notable exceptions such as Mary Carillo, has suffered from excessive earnestness.

Glynn Washington for NPR Host
NovoMetro - Oakland, CA, USA - If you’re like me, you confuse your public radio shows, except for Fresh Air, of course.  I’m not proud of it – it’s just that I don’t listen to public radio as much as I did when I had a one-hour daily commute.

But what I do remember is that Wait Wait...Don’t Tell Me is a very popular radio show.  I never really listened to it, but I always heard about it. So I was a little taken aback when Glynn Washington, who may very well be the voice of tomorrow’s public radio, said that Wait Wait... Don’t Tell Me represented
