Starting Early, Swearing Often: A Smart Aleck's Story
By DAVE ITZKOFF, New York Times - One of the more entertaining celebrity feuds recently conducted on Twitter was a dust-up between Chris Anderson, curator of the elite techno-centric lecture series known as the TED conference, and Sarah Silverman, the boundary-busting comedian. (Can you tell already that this isn’t going to be a fair fight?)

In February Mr. Anderson took to his Twitter feed to criticize Ms. Silverman, the Emmy-nominated star of Comedy Central’s “Sarah Silverman Program,” for her casually vulgar TED presentation that month, which included a riff on “adopting a retarded child.”

Mr. Anderson wrote, “I know I shouldn’t say this about one of my own speakers,

Chris Romano is back in his home state for ‘An Evening with Sarah Silverman’
Nashua Telegraph - Nashua, NH, USA - Chris Romano began his association with Sarah Silverman by being the butt of her jokes.

The event was the Channel 101 – or Channy – Awards, a festival acknowledging the best in short films on the Internet.

At the Los Angeles ceremony, Romano found himself being dissed left and right by Silverman.

“She was making fun of me in the jokes. I didn’t even know her,” said Romano, a Nashua native and 1996 graduate of Nashua High School.

He was introduced to her at the end of the show.

“I was the guy you were making fun of,” Romano said to Silverman.

“Oh, nice to meet

There May Be Cracks, But The Comedy Glass Ceiling Still Exists For Women - Branford, CT, USA - In this town (Los Angeles) and this industry (entertainment), there are a handful of strong, intelligent, funny women who - once they finally broke onto the radar - have worked consistently in equally strong, intelligent, funny roles.

After reading this month's "Who Says Women Aren't Funny" issue of Vanity Fair, it is impossible not to notice just how many beyond the current "it" girls of comedy were left off that list (which included funnygirls such as Tina Fey, Sarah Silverman and Amy Poehler). This is an attempt to rectify that and garner them the recognition they so rightly deserve.

Sarah Silverman headlines at Mirage
Los Angeles Times - CA, USA - I've only recently discovered the comedy of Sarah Silverman.

Thanks to YouTube, I got a crash course in her edgy humor with deadpan satire on race and sex. Of course, when you have to ask if a joke is racist or about racism, you are in a zone that Vegas usually does not go for in comics.

George Carlin -- who goes wherever he wants with his humor -- recalled, in a recent interview with me, being fired by a few casinos on the Strip, from the Frontier to MGM. Carlin has developed a theory of Vegas audiences. He thinks that when
