900 Club not far off for Ricky Rudd - USA - Congratulations are in order for Kyle Petty, who made his 800th Cup start Sunday at Indianapolis. That's a lot of trips around the track. Only five other drivers have started at least 800 Cup races.

But in the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, Petty was third fiddle to Ricky Rudd's 895th start and Terry Labonte's 850th.

Petty was 14 on March 2, 1975, when the 18-year-old Rudd finished 11th in his first Cup start, the Carolina 500 at North Carolina Motor Speedway in Rockingham. Three other drivers in that race are also in the 800 club: Richard Petty (1,185), Dave Marcis (883)

Kyle Petty stunned by firing of Marlin, Nemechek
USA Today - USA - Leading a parade of more than 200 motorcycles for a week can put a person out of touch with racing, and that was the case for NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Kyle Petty on Friday.

Understandably oblivious to the news emanating from the stock car world, Petty reacted with surprise when told fellow veterans Sterling Marlin and Joe Nemechek had been released from their rides with Ginn Racing.

"I can't believe that because they're both really good race car drivers," Petty said during a fuel stop for the Kyle Petty Charity ride on Friday.

"I think the rumor had been coming that they were

Kyle Petty Charity Ride roars into Randleman
News 14 Carolina - Raleigh, NC, USA - Riding 2,800 miles from Maine to Miami, the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America made a big stop for some big fans at the Victory Junction Gang Camp Wednesday.

Organizers say this year's visit to camp is particularly special for veteran riders.

“The riders have never really gotten to see camp in action. They've never been here when children were here so it's great to match the riders and they get to see the campers that they're raising money for. They get to see how much the campers enjoy what they're doing,” said Pattie Petty, wife of NASCAR driver and camp founder

Victory Junction Gang Camp Full of NASCAR Themed Attractions
Auto Racing Daily - USA - The camp was started by by Kyle and Patty Petty after the death of their son Adam. The camp was Adam’s vision and after he was unfortunately killed in a practice crash at New Hampshire International Speedway, his parents worked hard so that his vision would become a reality. With the help of Paul Newman (yes, that Paul Newman), Victory Junction Gang Camp was born and finally opened on June 20, 2004.

Kyle Petty ensuring racing remains a family affair
San Francisco Chronicle - CA, USA - Don't be fooled by the rural North Carolina roots. Kyle Petty has royal blood in his veins.

"There are two kings," Petty said. "Elvis and The King."

The King, of course, is his father, Richard Petty, winner of seven NASCAR championships and the reigning patriarch of one of the first families of stock car racing.

Kyle is in the Bay Area for Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway, where he'll race and be wired for commentary on the TNT broadcast of the Nextel Cup race over the 10-turn, 1.99-mile road course.

The Petty dynasty began with Lee, one of the sports first superstars.

Andretti returns to Petty Enterprises to sub in 45
Nascar - USA - This weekend, John Andretti returns to the wheel of a Petty Enterprises Dodge. Andretti will fill in for Kyle Petty in the No. 45 Dodge for this Sunday's Citizens Bank 400. Petty will once again be in the TNT booth for Sunday's event.

"I was the one that did the pursuing to race again for Petty Enterprises," Andretti said. "I went and spoke with Robbie Loomis and then I went and I asked Kyle. It seemed as quick as I asked him we were able to work on putting this together. You are never quite sure what the answer will be,

Kyle Petty: No Regrets About Move To Booth
Tampa Tribune - Tampa, FL, USA - For a driver who turned 47 Saturday, Kyle Petty was set to celebrate with the perfect birthday gift: time off.

It's not quite a vacation for Petty, who still will visit NASCAR tracks every weekend. He's leaving the No. 45 Dodge for a spin in the broadcast booth.

Not even his best finish in a decade could make him waver in his decision to temporarily dump his ride to work as a NASCAR race analyst for TNT.

"I don't have 10 years left of driving," Petty said Saturday. "I've got to start looking for something else to do. I can't write, but I
