Star athletes like fish out of water at Tahoe golf
San Diego Union Tribune - United States - It's one thing to ride a bike as fast as Lance Armstrong, drive the lane like Michael Jordan, throw a pass like Carson Palmer or catch one like Jerry Rice.

But hit a golf ball in front of a big crowd?

“Golf,” Armstrong says, stretching out the word like a British sports analyst. “It's a whole 'nother sport, whole 'nother beast. Hell, I get nervous when the lady in the beverage cart pulls up on the tee box.”

And he's not even in the tournament.

The seven-time champion of the Tour de France is set to play in the pro-am event preceding the American

John Elway Wants Arena Football to Become the Official Minor League of the NFL
AOL SPORTS - New York, NY, USA - According to Pro Football Talk, the demise of NFL Europa has given Colorado Crush owner John Elway some big ideas for the Arena Football League.

Specifically, Elway wants to work out an arrangement where the Arena league would become an official minor league of the NFL. In order to do so, Elway might attempt to force out the Arena league's commissioner, David Baker, who has always taken pride in making Arena football its own entity, not just the NFL's little brother.

As I see it, a couple of big obstacles would have to be overcome before this idea could be implemented. First,

Mentor Elway: This one's for Jay
Denver Post - Denver, CO, USA - John Elway had more comeback victories than any other quarterback in NFL history.

How about one more?

Elway could help the Broncos reach the Super Bowl for the first time since he retired and be an important influence, nine seasons later, on another quarterback.

Jay Cutler should become John Elway's protégé at this year's training camp and exhibition games.

A protégé is a young, talented person whose career is advanced by a powerful, experienced patron providing guidance, support and protection.

John & Jay: The esteemed Duke of Denver teaming up with a potential ascendant to Broncos nobility.

It's an ideal pairing of QBs and an idea

Fast Cars & Superstars: Finale - Chicago, IL, USA - John Elway was famous for his late-game heroics throughout his long NFL career, including a playoff fourth-quarter comeback against the Cleveland Browns known as “The Drive.” Well, that is officially Elway’s retirement nickname now as well, as he came out of nowhere to win “Fast Cars & Superstars: The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race.”

Here at KickingTires, we had suggested that any of four celebs could drive off with this event: pro wrestler John Cena, folk singer Jewel, her boyfriend and ex-rodeo star Ty Murray or extreme athlete Tony Hawk. All four gave healthy chases Sunday night, but each one came
