Give this guy a license to grill
Kansas City Star - MO, USA - Great chefs know a thing or two about timing, and Bobby Flay’s sense of timing is as good in front of the camera as it is in the kitchen.

In 2004 Flay was in Kansas City to film a segment at the American Royal for “Barbecue America With Bobby Flay.” Mayor Kay Barnes showed up for an interview.

When Flay asked her where’s the best barbecue — Texas or Kansas City — she replied: “Kansas City, of course.”

“I’ve just come from Texas, and it’s a very big state,” Flay said.

To which she replied, “Yes, but size isn’t everything.”

“Cut!” Flay yelled as the

The Bobby Flay touch
The Virginian-Pilot - Norfolk, VA, USA - Bobby Flay cooked for a crowd in Norfolk Saturday, his welcome from the Scope audience was as warm as the poblano peppers in the pot and the chipotle puree in the blender.

“I’m hyperventilating,” said Cheryl Pickel of Chesapeake. “I’ve followed him for 14 years, and everything I know about cooking I’ve learned from him.” Pickel had paid extra for a table a few feet from the temporary kitchen set up on the floor that’s usually covered with ice for the Admirals  hockey team.

Backstage, another improvised kitchen bustled as culinary school students chopped parsley and trimmed cilantro for Flay, the  Food

Observers credit the success of Cut, as well as Emeril Lagasse's Delmonico Steakhouse in Las Vegas and Bobby Flay's Bobby Flay Steak in Atlantic City, N.J., to their female-friendly environments, selection of gourmet side-dishes and unusual architecture.

"Most steakhouses are so cookie-cutter, and I think it was only a matter of time before something changed," Puck said. "Dining out is

Yahoo, Hellmann's Join Forces On Food Show
WebProNews - Lexington, KY, USA - What do Yahoo and Hellmann’s mayonnaise have in common?  “In Search of Real Food,” a twelve-episode series that focuses on Dave Lieberman and his - you guessed it - search for “real food,” much of which will probably be covered in or filled with mayo.

This sounds like lunacy, but as the Wall Street Journal’s Suzanne Vranica points out, “Visitors to video-sharing Web sites have shown they’ll watch just about anything, from cats chasing mice around to ordinary folks singing in the shower.”  And I’d rather look at yummy food than listen to tone-deaf teenagers.

So it’s no joke; Yahoo really is

Savannah Morning News - Savannah, GA, USA - Oprah Winfrey still reigns as queen on Forbes' 2007 list of the 100 Most Powerful Celebrities, but Savannah's butter-loving restaurateur and chef, Paula Deen, is gaining ground.

The rankings are based mostly on the prior year's income. Deen's earnings equalled about $4 million, according to Forbes.

That put her ahead of fellow Food Network chef Bobby Flay, who was No. 100, but behind cooking phenom Rachael Ray (No. 66) and "Bam!" man Emeril Lagasse (No. 87).
