Another New York Times Bestseller for Harvey Mackay

PR Newswire (press release) - MINNEAPOLIS, March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- On Feb. 22, Harvey Mackay released his latest blockbuster book, Use Your Head To Get Your Foot in the Door:  Job Search Secrets No One Else Will Tell You, and it's already cracked the national bestseller lists.

On Sunday, March 21, Use Your Head To Get Your Foot in the Door will appear at #4 in the New York Times Advice and How-To list, which includes business, diet, exercise and cook books.  It is currently #7 on the USA Today Money bestseller list, where it has remained for the last two weeks after debuting at #11 following its first week of release.  The Wall Street Journal ranks Use Your Head at #8 after it opened at # 11.  The book ranked #1 at amazon.com in four categories – Job Hunting, Education, Counseling and Vocational Guidance.  It climbed to #2 on amazon.com's business bestseller list.

Use Your Head is already in its fifth printing after three weeks.

"Fortunately – and unfortunately – the timing was perfect for a book like this," Mackay said.  "Job security is anything but secure.  The days of working at one company from youth to a gold watch at retirement are a distant memory.  Catapulting unemployment numbers included the most experienced employees of once-stable companies."

These are serious times, and job hunters need the best advice they can get.  With 17 percent of the workforce on the street, counting those who have stopped looking for work, people are learning that today's job market is more competitive than ever.  Further, job and career changes are virtually guaranteed over their lifetimes.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average person will have 10 to 14 jobs by age 38.  Other studies say most people will have 3 to 5 careers in their lifetimes.  "The logical conclusion then is that we need to prepare for a perpetual job search, because almost no one is immune to these changing economic times," Mackay said.
