Writer Russell T. Davies brought the British program back from the dead in 2005 after a nine year absence on TV.
The news of Zeta-Jones confirms the rumors that surfaced last week which said the bosses of the BBC wanted to make a big screen version of Doctor Who.
Davies was contacted about whether he thought Zeta-Jones would be good for the role, and he says that she would be perfect as the Timelord's assistant.
