'Wonkette' Ana Marie Cox Chastizes Ann Coulter? |
Post Chronicle - At around 6:30am eastern this morning I was listening to the "Imus in the Morning" radio show and happen to catch one of the I-man's new favorite guests, Ana Marie Cox. Ana Marie Cox is now the Washington editor of Time magazine's Web site.
It's been a big year for Cox. She cleaned up her act, left Wonkette, the D.C.-based political blog that brought her fame, and published her first novel, "Dog Days."
Cox was asked to give her opinion on the Ann Coulter controversy and trashed the Conservative pundit saying that she was someone that didn't deserve the time spent discussing her. She insinuated that Coulter was irrelevant and even joked with the I-man about her looks.
What strikes me as funny in this situation is that Cox obviously believes she is more than a blog skank that has achieved her fame and fortune as a sex-obsessed, hard-drinking, foul-mouthed internet persona.
Cox, a self described "pretend journalist," has been attempting to position herself as an actual legitimate and relevant political pundit. It would appear that she has at least fooled enough people to complete the illusion.
Cox is also the former executive editor of Suck.com, where she wrote under the pen name "Ann O'Tate." Prior to joining the Suck team, put in time at publications like Suck, Mother Jones, and The American Prospect. She was an editor of the progressive online magazine, Bad Subjects: Political Education for Everyday Life.
So Cox is no stranger to the media world she regularly savages. Nor is she unfamiliar with journalistic backbiting, having been fired from or asked to leave most of them.
