Stars to brighten Caribbean Classic

Jamaica Observer - Kingston, Jamaica - MONTEGO BAY, St James - The third annual Caribbean Classic Golf Invitational (CCGI), scheduled to tee off June 14 in Montego Bay and run for three days, will once again feature a plethora of top celebrities.

Among those already confirmed for the event are Las Vegas headliner Cedric the Entertainer, actor Anthony Anderson, NFL Hall of Fame honouree Marcus Allen, Hollywood leading man Richard Roundtree, Olympic gold medallist Ed Moses, comedian and TV star Tommy Davidson; among others.

The funds raised at the premiere celebrity golf tournament will once again go towards the donation of computers to schools across Jamaica.

Over 200 new Dell computers valued at over US $120,000 have so far being shipped to the island from proceeds of the two previous events.

"I am pleased to announce that we will arrange for the delivery of another shipment of computers to be distributed during the second computer launch schedule during this event," founder and principal organiser of the annual CCGI, Richard Stephenson noted.

He further noted: "This will be the third year we've organised the tournament, which will again take place in Montego Bay, Jamaica. This annual event has quickly become a powerhouse gathering, drawing to Montego Bay some of the most influential leaders in the Caribbean community, along with Jamaica's own national leadership and a growing list of international celebrities who care about Jamaica's children and its economy".

Associate director of global investment firm, Bear Stearns and a director of the CCGI executive committee, Alsion Roach expressed gratitude over the sponsors' contribution to the event.

"The CCGI tournament has become an annual home-coming convention of Jamaicans who have achieved international celebrity and wealth but have retained a love of their mother country. The companies and corporate leaders who support us all care deeply about the foundation's principal focus, which is the rapid advancement of Jamaica's children through the delivery of first-quality computing equipment to the needy schools on the island nation," Roach argued.

The tournament welcomes sponsors and golfers or, as non-golfers, attendees at the event reception, evening gala, and a nearby health and technology conference.
