Reality TV: Idols do Beatles

Pittsburgh Post Gazette - Pittsburgh, PA, USA - This season's "American Idol" scandal is detrimental to David Hernandez, as the stripper is the first singer eliminated from the Top 12. Tough luck for David. While his rendition of "I Saw Her Standing There" isn't fantastic, he's better than a handful of the other contestants during Lennon/McCartney songbook week.

Kristy Lee Cook butchers "Eight Days a Week" with her country twang, while fan-favorite David Archuleta forgets the words to "We Can Work it Out." I'm glad Chikezie has his best week yet when he rocks "She's a Woman" so hard he breaks a sweat.

"Idol" airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. and Wednesday at 9 p.m. on Fox.

Brad's a no-show on "The Bachelor: Where Are They Now?" special. Is it really a surprise after he dumped Jenni and DeAnna at the end of last season? Maybe he's just jealous Jenni's engaged now and DeAnna's ABC's next Bachelorette. Former Bachelors Aaron, Alex, Jesse and Travis are still single, while Bob's married and Andrew's engaged. Season nine diva Erica started T-Erica, and the brassy socialite sells -- what else -- luxury tiaras. "Bachelorette" success story couple Trista and Ryan offer a peek into their blissful life with new son Max. Season 12's Bachelor, Matt, is a businessman from London.

"The Bachelor" begins Monday at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.

On "Big Brother: 'Til Death Do You Part," Head of Household Ryan puts Chelsia and Sharon on the block. Chelsia wins the Golden Power of Veto and saves herself, leaving Ryan to decide whether to listen to the pushy HouseGuests urging him to put up his pal, Matt, in exchange for two weeks of safety or go with his gut and target James. Ryan puts up James and the mohawked misfit is eliminated, 5 to 1, over Sharon. Host Julie Chen announces a twist -- the HouseGuests must vote for James or a previously eliminated mystery HouseGuest to return to the house. They pick James, 5 to 3, over Alex -- not such a big twist after all. Chelsia's elated her love is back, and everyone begins the endurance HoH competition. I'm starting to root for once-annoying Adam who's deftly flying under the drama radar.
