Ore. family gets key to 'Extreme Makeover' house |
KTVZ - Bend, OR, USA - A Corvallis-area family that will be featured on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" saw their new house this weekend, thrilling a crowd of more than 1,000 who turned out to witness their joy.
Rob and Rachel Byers were picked to receive the house, which was built in a week by an army of volunteers.
1 of their children has a rare form of childhood cancer and is fighting a recurrence.
The child, an 8-year-old girl named Janessa who goes by Boey, let out a shriek of joy and burst into tears when she saw the big new home.
The rest of the family did the same.
For a long time, there was nothing but crying and hugging as the Byers family clutched each other.
And after everyone from the builder to the designers to host Ty Pennington had been hugged, the family wiped away tears, held hands and made their way into their new home.
