Making the Band 4 stars talk about their future plans and musical encounters |
Vanguard Online (subscription) - Waltham, MA, USA - One might expect that being on the phone with Aundrea Fimbres would be daunting, but from her tour bus Aundrea comes across just like your best friend. Perhaps the familiarity comes from watching the MTV show "Making the Band," which Aundrea and her group Danity Kane have been involved with for several seasons. The most recent "Making the Band 4" chronicles their efforts on their sophomore album and their relationship with Diddy's newest venture, Day26.
Anyone who has watched the show knows what a big song selection was to the group, and when I asked Aundrea if the group was able write for this album she replied enthusiastically with "Yes, we did! ….six songs we wrote." Which is her favorite? "Poetry, a very big, emotional ballad" along with "Striptease, very sexy … a little of a tease without going all the way." Production of the album occurred during the filming of Making the Band 4, which Aundrea says "Helped, honestly, a huge blessing in disguise..." She also tells me that "[they] came into the industry a different way, fans get to see another side…]" and that "fans are attached in a different way." It's not every day that fans get to witness what goes into the production of an album and what is behind each song.
With that being said, Aundrea reports that the show is "very very true to the story, not anything that doesn't happen [is shown]." She also discusses how the show gives fans one side of their personality that it's really how they are. Proof that the show isn't scripted comes from her accounts of working with the one and only P. Diddy. "[it's] always an experience! He's our boss, he drives us nuts but we respect him. He's done a lot for us."
Disagreements may occur but Diddy "appreciates that we are passionate about the music."Though the show may be a reality, Aundrea and the other girls of Danity Kane have experienced some changes outside of what viewers see. The girls are "staying who we are, our families keep us grounded." The members of Danity Kane also "check each other as much as possible, same people, different stuff". Relationships with family and friends are still intact, though communication has changed. Aundrea details how they don't get to see the ones they love as much but that a lot of phone calls, texts, and emails are a major part of staying in touch.
"Somewhere else singing…" was Aundrea's prediction for herself and the other four girls for what they would be doing were it not for the formation of Danity Kane. When asked if the girls had any other aspirations beyond music, perhaps fashion or acting, she told me that "[all] five of us are focused on the album. We can do anything and everything, touch everything possible." Plans for a tour are coming together with no specific details yet, however Aundrea said that if she could have anyone open for them it would be "Justin Timberlake, he could rub our feet after!" Will the group be part of the next Making the Band season? "[there are] some rumors, something might be happening…something for touring…" With a newly released album and the finale of the current Making the Band season, Aundrea tells me that she envisions the group "taking over the world!"
