Lewis Black Announces New CD and Tour |
Artistdirect.com - Lewis Black –quite possibly my favorite stand-up comedian and I am a stand-up comedy nerd- is back and angrier than ever! He is also busier than ever, as he is about to celebrate the release of a CD and a DVD, as well as a special on Comedy Central titled Stark Raving Black. Mr. Black also has a gaggle of tour dates on his docket, as well. So if you want to pee your pants, then snag some tickets to his shows!
Stark Raving Black is scheduled for release on June 12 via CD and DVD via Comedy Central. It's a special release not only because it's Lewis and it was recorded at the historic Fillmore Theatre in Detroit, but it also marks the Grammy-winning record label's 100th release, so congrats to Comedy Central Records for reaching that impressive milestone. I can't think of anyone better to share the achievement with than Lewis Black. The release will also be available on all digital outlets including iTunes and Amazon. The television special will air on Comedy Central the weekend before release date on June 12 at 9 PM, so check your local listings.
Some of the topics that Black explores on the brilliant and hilarious include the absurdities of aging (60 is NOT the new 40!) to the pitfalls of becoming a "mainstream" comedian to the insanity of Washington and Wall Street. Seriously, I love Dane Cook, Kevin Brennan, Robert Schimmel and Zack Galifinakis, but Lewis Black is my numero uno favorite of the lot! If you like smart, satirical comedy, then Lewis Black is required listening. He is this generation's George Carlin! No joke.
The uncensored DVD features an extended version of the stand-up event -35 minutes not aired during the Comedy Central special. It will also include a 70-minute documentary on Lewis Black's life and career titled Basic Black. The documentary gives an intimate portrait of what it's like to "lick every inch of the ladder" on the way to becoming one of the most successful comedians in America.
