Jerry West Speaks at WVU Graduation |
by Amanda McCall, WTRF - MORGANTOWN -- WVU and NBA legend Jerry West was the keynote speaker at this year's graduation for the WVU College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences ceremony; not only was a speaker but also a proud as his son graduated Sunday. Jerry's son, Jonnie West graduated with a degree is sports management and will continue grad work at WVU next year but will not play his last year of eligibility with the Mountaineers next season.
Jerry says he talked it over with his son about the decision, he wishes nothing but the best for the senior and the entire squad. Jonnie says although his father has earned so many accolades in the basketball world, he always felt at home in West Virginia.
Jerry West wasn't the only one who was impressed with this year's basketball squad, former US president Bill Clinton also had a few words to say about not only about this year’s basketball team this season and meeting Da'Sean Butler but recognized the accomplishments of the student athletes in this year's 2010 class, Clinton talked about the graduation rate being right on point.
