Jackie Chan is running on fumes in uninspired 'Rush Hour 3' |
Seattle Post Intelligencer - USA - After a six-year hiatus, the "Rush Hour" brand has lost its drive. The third film in the odd-couple action-comedy franchise features a once breathtakingly acrobatic action star now past his prime, a story that could have been sketched on the back of a cocktail napkin, a script that confuses exposition for dialogue, and recycled stunts that whiz by slickly and spiritlessly in a brisk 90 minutes.
The loopy energy of Chris Tucker, bouncing off straight-man Jackie Chan, is all that colors the spaces between the connect-the-dots plotting.
Chan's no-nonsense Hong Kong Chief Inspector Lee and Tucker's slippery, spring-loaded L.A. cop James Carter are reunited to chase a triad plot to Paris, where they get chased by fashionably attired Asian gangsters through Parisian landmarks.
