Blue Springs Examiner - MO, USA - David Cook is safe for one more week.
The Blue Springs South High School graduate advanced to the next round of "American Idol" Wednesday after delivering a rocker version of Beatles hit "Eleanor Rigby" Tuesday.
His rendition of the song drew praise from all three judges, including the brutally honest Simon Cowell.
Cowell told a jubilant Cook, his performance was "brilliant."
"If this remains a talent competition rather than a popularity contest, you could win the whole thing," Cowell said to a noticably pleased Cook.
This is the second consecutive week Cowell has praised Cook. Last week, after Cook rocked out to "Hello" by Lionel Richie, Cowell said he loved the performance.
