'Good Morning America's Robin Roberts shows class in cancer fight |
New York Daily News - New York, NY, USA - "Good Morning America" co-host Robin Roberts ditched her wig and strutted along the catwalk Thursday in a long silver-beaded Isaac Mizrahi evening dress and brought the crowd to its feet.
Roberts, who in July revealed she is battling breast cancer, appeared for the first time on live TV without the wig she's worn since shaving her head during chemotherapy.
"Did I forget my hair again?" Roberts, 47, said after getting an ovation from the invitation-only crowd. "I wanted to do this for everyone who is going through something, a challenge in their life."
Roberts' runway adventure played out live on "GMA" with Diane Sawyer and Chris Cuomo cheering her on.
Roberts' fight with cancer has caught the attention of "GMA" viewers, and many of them praised her appearance without the wig.
"Hey, Robin," wrote a fan at ABCNews.com. "Your head is freaking beautiful! I saw you on the catwalk as well and I thought you looked so good."
"It feels wonderful," a teary-eyed Roberts told Mizrahi. "I haven't felt this great in a long time."
Mizrahi told her she "looked so beautiful," adding, "You're a big inspiration."
