'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' Star Teams Up with IDW Publishing

BuddyTV - USA - Music icon Gene Simmons, known most as the bass guitarist and lead vocalist of KISS, has been busy rocking the television world with his reality series, Gene Simmons Family Jewels.  His longtime partner Shannon Tweed and their children, Nicholas and Sophie, serve as his co-stars on the show.

A&E recently renewed the reality series for another season.  However, the show is not the only project that the 57-year-old has committed to recently.  In March, Gene Simmons joined forces with IDW Publishing in order to create the Simmons Comic Group.  IDW decided to approach the Family Jewels star with the hopes of bringing back some of the Marvel KISS comics from earlier years.

Simmons, an avid comic book fan, impressed the publishing company with his thorough knowledge of the industry and interesting marketing techniques.

"Simmons' love for comic books was apparent and he really wanted to be a part of the process," IDW publisher and editor-in-chief Chris Ryall said.
