Former President Bill Clinton scheduled to speak at Colgate University Oct. 29

The Post-Standard - Syracuse.com - President Bill Clinton will join the list of high-profile individuals who have come to Colgate University  to take part in its Global Leaders lecture series.

Clinton will give a public talk at 7 p.m. Oct. 29 at Sanford Field House as part of the Kerschner Family Series.

He is expected to discuss his work after leaving the White House, including a AIDs and HIV advocacy effort that has helped 2 million people access lifesaving drugs, and relief and rebuilding efforts in Haiti.

The Global Leaders lecture series has brought other big names to the village of Hamilton in Madison County. In April, the featured guest was former world chess champion Garry Kasparov, who discussed politics and democracy in Russia.

Other speakers have included Tony Blair, the former prime minister of Great Britain, former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell and the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism and a Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Ticket information will be released at a later date, Colgate officials said Monday.
