Dancing with the Stars: Joey Fatone in "Space" |
BuddyTV - USA - Joey Fatone has had to be pretty coordinated in a variety of very different venues. As a boy bander during his time as a member of ‘N Sync, he had to master hip-hop and pop-influenced moves. As a Brodway actor in Rent and Little Shop of Horrors, he had to learn the blocking involved with modern musical theater. And as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, he had to learn the steps of ballroom and Latin dancing.
Now, for his 31st birthday, he had the chance to learn a new move: floating in “space.”
The Dancing with the Stars alum spent his 31st on the “Zero-G” flight out of Kennedy Space Center. Travel site Jaunted.com explains that the flight is “a trip in a specially adapted plane, during which the pilot dives in such a way that the forces of gravity are briefly cancelled out. It means you can float, like an astronaut in space, for around 30 seconds at a time.”
It's used as a training tool for astronauts, but the flight has also become a destination for the space travel enthusiast or general thrill seeker (who, granted, has a lot of cash to drop, since the flights cost about $3600 each). Famous physicist Stephen Hawking, who has been physically disabled by Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS), has also taken a turn in the Zero-G flight.
