Crowe, LaPaglia May Build Sports Stadium |
Washington Post - Anthony LaPaglia and Russell Crowe are in preliminary talks about building a new sports stadium in Sydney. LaPaglia, star of CBS' "Without a Trace," is a director and shareholder in Sydney FC, a soccer team in the domestic A-League.
Crowe, who won an Oscar for 2000's "Gladiator," is co-owner of the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the National Rugby League.
LaPaglia said he and Crowe are in preliminary talks on constructing a 25,000-seat stadium that both teams could use during their respective seasons.
"You're the first person I'm going to tell this, Russell and I have been talking to each other about the possibility of ... joining forces to achieve that goal," the 48-year-old actor said.
"He wants a stadium, I want a stadium, and we think together there is a possibility we might be able to pull it off. We would combine forces to have a home field, and training facilities," LaPaglia said Saturday.
LaPaglia said talks with Crowe have been ongoing for about four months.
