Celebs lead high life in the Hamptons |
USA Today - USA - A whole lot of uptown girls grooved to Billy Joel Saturday night.
Renee Zellweger, Kelly Ripa and Mary-Kate Olsen danced as Joel performed at the Social @ Ross concert, a series of events that is becoming the marquee bash of the already glitzy Hamptons party circuit. The musical extravaganzas previously featured Prince and the Dave Matthews Band, and with tickets selling for $4,000 each, it's no wonder the night is a lavish one.
Zellweger clapped her hands and danced with a mystery man to Joel's encore of Piano Man. Ripa grooved along with her husband, Mark Consuelos. Alec Baldwin stood in the VIP section with his arms around a young mystery blonde. But the most enthusiastic celebrity was a fedora-wearing Olsen, who skipped the VIP section to dance in front of the stage, pumping her fists in the air during Movin' Out. And on the even more low-maintenance end, Amy Poehler and her husband, Will Arnett, patiently waited for a shuttle bus to take them back to their car.
"We came here for Prince and it was terrific, and we decided we'd come back. Billy Joel is the consummate performer," Ripa says.
The early afternoon was all about horses. Brooke Shields, with her husband, Chris Henchy, and daughters Rowan, 4, and Grier, 1, and their nanny in tow, hosted Saturday's Mercedes-Benz polo tournament. "It's becoming somewhat of a tradition for us to come out here in the summer," Shields says.
So is she part of the star-studded social scene? "We're lucky to be able to be part of all the scenes, so I'm part of every different aspect of it. It's a scene no matter where you go, no matter (which) coast you're on," Shields says.
