Carey puts 'Price' contestants at ease
Variety - Los Angeles, CA, USA - Drew Carey has no problem recognizing the star of "The Price Is Right."

"It's the contestant, not the game, not the host. It's that person up there on the stage who goes on a journey, and the audience is right there with them," Carey says. "The host is just the guide. All I have to do is just show up in a good mood and be nice to everybody."

Just being modest? Sure. Carey has stepped in quite nicely actually, having the pressure to fill the shoes for icon Bob Barker, who retired last year amid tremendous fanfare. Ratings for the daytime

CBS looks to game-show host Drew Carey to help boost ratings
Drew Carey
The Plain Dealer - cleveland.com - Cleveland, OH, USA - CBS is calling on old Brooklyn native Drew Carey for some prime-time help during the May sweeps period, when ratings determine how much stations can charge for advertising.

The network has ordered four more evening editions of Carey's daytime game show, "The Price is Right.'' The four "The Price is Right Million Dollar Spectacular'' specials will air at 8-9 p.m. Wednesdays on WOIO Channel 19.

Prime-time "Price is Right'' specials have been ratings winners for CBS on Fridays.

Carey took over as the host of "The Price is Right'' in October, replacing Bob Barker.

Tina Fey & Christopher Guest Want In on Ricky Gervais' 'Truth'!
Cinematical - Santa Monica, CA, USA - I was drawn into this whole story by the thought of Tina Fey, but be still my comedic heart, she's not the only one involved. As Jessica posted earlier this month, Ricky Gervais has a blog for his upcoming comedy, This Side of the Truth, and he's just announced the final casting. He writes in an entry: "We are trying to avoid the 'Hollywood actor look'. No botox, perma-tans, or unfeasibly white teeth..."

Who could that mean for casting? Well, there's a short little blip that says Tina Fey and Christopher Guest have signed on, along with Jeffrey Tambor and John

Tina Fey takes a swipe at The Daily Show
TV Squad - Santa Monica, CA, USA - OK, so it's a little swipe I think, but it stands out.

30 Rock star and producer Tina Fey gave an interview to Reader's Digest where she talks about everything from motherhood to her time on Saturday Night Live to who her favorite member of The Three Stooges is (Larry). She's also asked by the interviewer what pleases her more, applause or laughter, and she makes a point of saying that it's laughter because "you can prompt applause with a sign."

She goes on to say in the same answer that her SNL buddy Seth Meyers coined the term "clapter," which is

There May Be Cracks, But The Comedy Glass Ceiling Still Exists For Women
Starpulse.com - Branford, CT, USA - In this town (Los Angeles) and this industry (entertainment), there are a handful of strong, intelligent, funny women who - once they finally broke onto the radar - have worked consistently in equally strong, intelligent, funny roles.

After reading this month's "Who Says Women Aren't Funny" issue of Vanity Fair, it is impossible not to notice just how many beyond the current "it" girls of comedy were left off that list (which included funnygirls such as Tina Fey, Sarah Silverman and Amy Poehler). This is an attempt to rectify that and garner them the recognition they so rightly deserve.

Shields' Rep Denies Fake Tan Halted 'Lipstick Jungle' Filming
San Francisco Chronicle - CA, USA - Brooke Shields' representatives have hit back at reports she has stalled filming on her latest TV show, "Lipstick Jungle," because of her excessive use of fake tanner.

The star was accused of lathering herself in fake tan by the show's guest star Leven Rambin, stating the actress was desperate to sport a bronzed look for scheduled sex scenes.

Rambin claims Shield went overboard with a tanning agent, turning herself orange and halting further filming on series.

However, Rambin's claim has been refuted by a spokesperson for Shields, who tells MSNBC.com's The Scoop the actress has never used self-tanning products: "This is totally not

'L word' actor to speak at ISU
Marlee Matlin
Indiana Statesman - IN, USA - The Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin will speak at 7 p.m. in Tilson Auditorium Monday as the concluding part of the 2007-2008 University Speaker Series.

"We felt she would be a nice addition to our series, and she had an interesting presentation in terms of her career and how her hearing disability wasn't really a factor," said Linda Crossett, director of community and professional programs.

According to handsandvoices.org, sickness and fevers as an infant resulted in Matlin's deafness. This did not hinder her success and with the encouragement of her parents she did not let her disability stop her from trying and exploring

Letter perfect
Modesto Bee - Modesto, CA, USA - When "I Dream of Jeannie" star Barbara Eden comes to the Gallo Center for the Arts, it won't be her first time in Modesto.

The perky San Francisco-bred actress had cousins in our city when she was still known as Barbara Huffman (Eden is her stage name). She isn't sure if any of her relatives still live here, but if they do, she hopes they will come see her show.

She and longtime friend Hal Linden of "Barney Miller" are performing the two-person play "Love Letters" for one night only next Friday.

"It's a wonderfully constructed play," Eden said in a phone interview.

‘Lipstick Jungle’ Premiere
Playfeed - USA - Remember those perfume ads back in the 1980’s for Parfums decoeur ‘Designer Imposters’? They went something like “if you like Giorgio you’ll love Primo!, if you like Opium you’ll love Ninja” or the more recent enticement,
