Cooper speaks of experience
Arkansas Traveler (subscription) - Fayetteville, AR, USA
- He has traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan since the beginning of the wars and has broadcast from New Orleans every few weeks since his month-long report from the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina.
However, Anderson Cooper doesn't get tired of doing the same story, even months after reporting it.
"I don't get bored," Cooper said. "There is something always different, there is always new things happening with stories."
For the last three months, he has been following the U.S. elections nonstop, but even this doesn't grow tiring, he said.
"It's fascinating. The fact that all people who are illegibly experts have no idea what

Did Conan, Colbert or Stewart Create Huckabee?
Town Hall - Washington, DC, USA
- Did you catch the great showdown this past week? No, not Super Tuesday but the late-night television comedian battle over who discovered and "made" GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee.
While Republicans and Democrats were slugging it out at the polls, three kingpins of comedy were in chortle combat for the right to be called the creator of the GOP contender and his surge in this election race. Even they are somewhat surprised this 10-year Arkansas governor outlasted candidates such as Giuliani, Thompson and Romney to be among the finalists for the GOP nomination.
The sardonic segments about Huckabee on each of their

Ferguson wants Jon Stewart to replace Letterman
TV Squad - Santa Monica, CA, USA
- Awwww, isn't it nice when one late night host gives a compliment to another?
Late, Late Show host Craig Ferguson says that he would like to see Jon Stewart take over for David Letterman if and when Letterman retires. Letterman's current contract with CBS is up in 2010, which just happens to be the same time that Stewart's contract is up with The Daily Show and Comedy Central.
But that's not the most interesting part of this interview with Ferguson over at Broadcasting and Cable. Ferguson hints strongly that if Letterman stays, he'll stay, but if Letterman does indeed retire, he'll probably

Ferguson Backs Stewart for Late Show Gig
TheCelebrityCafe.com - Valley Stream, NY, USA
- Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson is backing Jon Stewart to take over for David Letterman, if Letterman leaves CBS when his contract is up in 2010.
“I think Jon should replace Dave if Dave decides to go,” Ferguson told Broadcasting & Cable last week.
“I think Dave should stay, I think he ain’t done. But if Dave is finished, I think Jon has earned the job.”
It seems funny to many, including certain writers at TheCelebrityCafe.com, that Ferguson supports Stewart, and not himself, for Letterman’s current job.
Ferguson’s support is evermore interesting because Stewart is only signed with Comedy Central through 2010, making

Writers' strike forces late-night hosts to improvise
Beacon Newspaper (subscription) - Miami, FL, USA
- Without the safety net of their writing staffs to help them craft their jokes and construct their premises, many late night talk show hosts have been forced to wing it as the writer's strike has entered its fourth month.
From "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" to "The Colbert Report" with Stephen Colbert, the late night hosts have been forced to rely more on their wits and charm than jokes, and the results have ranged from the brilliant (The Colbert-Conan- Jon Stewart 'fued') to the awful (everything Jay Leno has done, which, is actually, not a big change from normal pre-writers' strike Leno.)

When hosts attack
|
|
Binghamton University Pipe Dream - NY, USA
- Many people believe the writers’ strike affects mostly the viewers, but after a series of unfortunate and strangely humorous events on late night television, it apparently affects the hosts as well.
The feud between Conan O’Brien, Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart over Mike Huckabee’s success in his run for presidential candidacy has been central in all of the hosts’ programs. Of course, I use the term “feud” lightly as it’s obvious that they are, as Jon Stewart said, “wasting time on all three of our shows.”
It began with Colbert claiming that he made Huckabee because he was on “The Colbert Report”

'Daily Show' comic kicks off election series at UMD
SouthCoastToday.com - New Bedford, MA, USA
- During the 2004 U.S. presidential election, 21 percent of voters under age 30 cited "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" as a major source of campaign news, according to a Pew Research Center poll.
So when the Programming Committee at UMass Dartmouth set out to plan the campus calendar this election year, they immediately thought of the Comedy Central hit.
John Oliver, political commentator and British-born stand-up comedian on "The Daily Show," performs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the main auditorium.
Doors open at 7, and the public is invited.
"I love 'The Daily Show.' If it didn't exist, I don't know what I'd

Will Stewart Grace The Oscars, WGA Strike Or Not?
Multichannel News - New York, NY, USA
- If the Writers Guild of America strike isn’t settled in time for the Academy Awards ceremony Feb. 24, will Jon Stewart still show up to host the event?
The question surfaced Thursday because Stewart tonight, Feb. 7, had been slated to host an event honoring Viacom and CBS chairman Sumner Redstone in New York City. But Stewart cancelled, and now the gala, sponsored by the Paley Center for the Media, is set to be emceed by Charlie Rose.
There’s been speculation that Comedy Central’s Stewart stepped down to spite his masters at media conglomerate Viacom, which is one of the entities the

Colbert book influencing young voters
SHU Spectrum - Fairfield, CT, USA
- After a lull in the heavy traffic of politics, the nation has received a breath of fresh sarcasm as Comedy Central's satirist Stephen Colbert releases his debut book "I Am America (And So Can You!)."
Colbert's book hits on major, edgy political topics and government policies discussed in campaign debates.
The tone of the book holds true to the underlying criticism and humor that carry shows like "The Colbert Report" and Jon Stewart's, "The Daily Show."
The book is broken down into three sections, each one playing off the role of Colbert's childhood, adolescence, and maturity as an American.
Within each chapter, issues such

Conan, Colbert and Stewart Unite in Epic Brawl
About - News & Issues - New York, NY, USA
- Conan O'Brien, Stephen Colbert, and Jon Stewart resorted to fisticuffs while appearing on each other's shows to settle a mock feud over who made Mike Huckabee.
The fight began a few weeks ago when O'Brien claimed he was responsible for Huckabee's success in the presidential primaries because he made Chuck Norris, who, in turn, made Huckabee. Therefore O'Brien made Huckabee. Colbert, for his part, claimed that Huckabee's success was due to the "Colbert bump" Huckabee received after appearing on his show.
Conan O'Brien vs. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert O'Brien and Colbert sniped back and forth, and later Stewart got into the
