CNN's Cooper Got Start Covering Wars
Springdale Morning News - Springdale, AR, USA
- Anderson Cooper never wanted to be a news anchor.
"It's not anything I ever actually set out to become. It's actually something I used to make fun of," Cooper said. "I grew up watching Guy Smiley on Sesame Street and Kent Brockman on the Simpsons. That was sort of my idea of what an anchor was."
The host of CNN's " Anderson Cooper 360" didn't know what he wanted to do after graduating from Yale, but a high school trip through Africa had shown him the world outside the United States.
"I had a liberal arts degree, which means I had no actual skill,"

So, What's The (Big) Story With John Gibson?
New York, NY, USA
- Last night, faux newsman Stephen Colbert had a send up of real newsman John Gibson of FNC, saying "the network announced that it is canceling the Big Story."
The 5pmET show with Gibson and Heather Nauert has been sidelined since Feb. 25 when FNC replaced it with America's Election HQ with Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly.
TVNewser first reported Monday that America's Election HQ would continue for the foreseeable future, so long as the Democratic primary continued. Fox News has made no announcement about Big Story being canceled.

Cooper speaks of experience
Arkansas Traveler (subscription) - Fayetteville, AR, USA
- He has traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan since the beginning of the wars and has broadcast from New Orleans every few weeks since his month-long report from the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina.
However, Anderson Cooper doesn't get tired of doing the same story, even months after reporting it.
"I don't get bored," Cooper said. "There is something always different, there is always new things happening with stories."
For the last three months, he has been following the U.S. elections nonstop, but even this doesn't grow tiring, he said.
"It's fascinating. The fact that all people who are illegibly experts have no idea what

Fox News' Sunday Schedule Looks Familiar
mediabistro.com - New York, NY, USA
- Johnny Dollar noticed that the FNC schedule for Sunday looks noticeably like its weekday schedule.
From 9-11amET, Bill Hemmer and Alisyn Camerota (in for newlywed Megyn Kelly) host America's Newsroom, with Jon Scott and Jane Skinner following for two hours with Happening Now.
The afternoon looks the same as well, with Martha MacCallum, E.D. Hill and Shepard Smith from 1-4pmET. At 5pmET, America's Election HQ airs with Hemmer and guest co-host MacCallum, and Smith is back at 7pmET for Fox Report.
Is FNC gearing up early for their coverage of "Super Tuesday II?"

Dr. Keith Heads to Fox News
Broadcasting & Cable (subscription) - New York, NY, USA
- If you've noticed Dr. Keith Ablow popping up on various Fox News shows (Fox & Friends, Your World With Neil Cavuto), that's because he's been added to the top-rated cable news network's stable of contributors.
Ablow was one of asmattering of self-help TV hosts who landed talk shows in the wake of Oprah pal Dr. Phil’s success on daytime TV. But Ablow’s syndicated show, The Dr. Keith Ablow Show, was canceled earlier this year after one season.
An author of self-help tomes, Ablow has also written several crime novels and waded into the criminal profiling arena with Inside the Mind of Scott

Nightly news: New anchors away!
USA Today - USA
- Ask ABC World News anchor Charles Gibson why he has become the nation's most-watched TV news anchor, and he grins.
"Unbridled sex appeal," he says.
Gibson is kidding, of course. But after the tumultuous year since the Tom Brokaw/Peter Jennings/Dan Rather era ended, his reason might be as good as any as to why the race among him, NBC's Brian Williams and CBS' Katie Couric has played out the way it has.
The contest began last Labor Day with Couric's much-heralded arrival at the CBS Evening News. The former Today star and the man who hired her — CBS CEO Leslie Moonves —

Geist will be honored at a luncheon at the University Club in Manhattan on September 27.

Murray. "Today, no one in broadcast journalism is a better story teller than
