American Idol's Brooke White Releases Debut CD
Associated Content - Denver,CO,USA - American Idol's Brooke White has released her debut album Songs from the Attic. While Brooke White is unable to sign an official record deal until the American Idol tour finishes, she has chosen to release her album independently. You can also hear samples of songs from the album. Brooke White's album contains 11 songs, including covers of Aerosmith's Dream On and Coldplays' Yellow. I really enjoyed the clips from her album. The songs had a nice fusion of folk, pop, and a nice rhythmic upbeat quality. Even on the cover songs, Brooke White's unique voice and style came through.

American Idol star, Staples encourage teens to join school-supplies drive
News Courier - Athens,AL,USA - American Idol and pop star Jordin Sparks sings, “Tell me how I’m supposed to breathe with no air,” in her recent love duet with Chris Brown. Now, she’s asking how teens are supposed to do school work with no supplies.

Sparks recently joined with the Web site DoSomething.org and Staples Inc. to resolve this problem with a national back-to-school supply drive.

“I’m very excited to be involved with the Do Something 101 campaign and to help motivate teens to get involved,” Sparks said. “There are so many kids in America who need school supplies and don’t have them, and all somebody has

TEEN PREGNANCY
Newsweek - USA - When OK! Magazine announced 16-year-old Nickelodeon star Jamie Lynn Spears' pregnancy in December 2007, it was the best-selling issue since the magazine's American debut in 2005. "We knew it was a very big story, but it took us a little bit by surprise just how big the story became," says Rob Shuter, OK!'s executive editor. "The nightly news was talking about it."

But the story wasn't exactly a publicist's dream. Jamie Lynn was, after all, barely old enough to get her driver's license, and she was a tween icon thanks to her sitcom, "Zoey 101." In October 2007, Jamie Lynn told

'American Idol' finalist serenades Rye crowd on Fourth
Portsmouth Herald News - Portsmouth,NH,USA - Ayla Brown, an "American Idol" finalist in 2006, gave her many fans in her summer home of Rye a sampling of why she made it to No. 13 in the country on the popular television show.

Singing not only one of the tunes from her album "Forward" in her clear, strong voice, Brown also unveiled her newest single, "Absolutely Everybody," which had young and old alike dancing.

A tall, slender, attractive young woman, she was clearly very comfortable on the small stage at Parsons Field. And she had a blast, too, calling up many small children onto the stage with her, getting

America's Accidental Idol
Rolling Stone - USA - Less than a week after winning American Idol, David Cook is sitting in a glitzy restaurant on the south tip of Manhattan's Central Park. The chef, who proudly says he was among the 55 million who phoned in a vote for Cook during Idol's finals, presents the singer with an off-the-menu treat — foie gras on toast — that leaves Cook unnerved. "That looks dangerous," he says. "I'm a little scared." Tossing the bite-size morsel in his mouth, he chews slowly and quickly lunges for his Sprite to drown out the taste. Later, when the chef returns with a delicate

'American Idol' Alum Blake Lewis Parts With Label, Says He 'Couldn't Be Happier' With Debut LP's Performance
MTV.com - USA - As far as Blake Lewis is concerned, selling close to 300,000 copies of his debut LP, A.D.D. (Audio Day Dream), was a "huge success" — at least on a personal level. Apparently, Arista Records has a different definition of success.

The atypical "American Idol" alumnus (he was the season-six runner-up, ultimately losing out to Jordin Sparks) told MTV News that he parted ways with Arista just seven months after his record landed in stores. That makes his the shortest of all the relationships forged between former "Idol" contenders and their various record labels. But the beatboxer would like to clarify one

ASTIN FAMILY VALUES IN HOLMDEL
redbankgreen - Red Bank, NJ, USA - Who wouldn't want to be Gomez Addams? Always looking your best, never bored, never having to work. Living a life centered around romance and hobbies in a houseful of strange creatures, explosives and drawers full of cash.

As personified by John Astin in the classic 1960s sitcom The Addams Family, Gomez was a virile lover of both life and death — unflappable, full of savoir faire (Tish! You spoke French!), and a far different character than the sketchy, nameless little figure who appeared in the panel cartoons by Charles Addams. His performance was in fact the template for all Addams projects

Nothing Sells Like Celebrity
New York Times - United States - EARLY last year, marketing executives at Totes Isotoner, a Cincinnati company that had spent the previous 30 years churning out a reliable lineup of humble umbrellas, crowded around a computer and listened to a teenage singer from Barbados named Rihanna breeze through a tune titled, appropriately, “Umbrella.”

The song, not yet released, had commercial, jingle-ready lyrics and a stick-in-your-head hook: “You can stand under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh.” Totes, which hadn’t deployed celebrity endorsements since the former N.F.L. quarterback Dan Marino hawked its gloves more than a decade earlier, was smitten. “Umbrella” became a corporate rallying cry, with

SheKnows.com - Scottsdale, AZ, USA - Archie got a record deal! David Archuleta has signed with 19 Recordings Jive Records and although that was hardly in doubt, what is still a question is what his sound becomes and how well he'll sell albums.

By signing with Jive, Archuleta is going with the practically in house recording company associated with “American Idol.” Winner David Cook gets the automatic deal, but anyone else in the Top 12 can sign wherever they want.

The fact that Archuleta signed with Jive is telling. At only 17, the singer could use some serious guidance as he navigates the mine fields of popular music

Where Are They Now? What’s Going On with Bobby McFerrin, Wendy & Lisa and Chuck D
Black America Web - Dallas, Tx, USA - Perhaps best known for his infectious 1989 Grammy Award-winning hit "Don't Worry, Be Happy," the first a capella song ever to reach No. 1 on the U.S. pop singles chart, Bobby McFerrin has appeared around the world as a jazz vocalist, composer and orchestral conductor.

Known for his unorthodox singing techniques, McFerrin uses his unusually large vocal range of four octaves; in many performances he switches rapidly fluidly between normal and falsetto registers to create polyphonic effects, effectively performing both the main melody and the accompanying parts of songs. He makes use of vocal percussion created both with his mouth and

David Cook leads 'American Idol' domination of music charts
Entertainment Weekly - USA - For the moment, it's David Cook's world and we just live — and download — in it. That would be the conclusion to draw, anyway, from this week's digital-songs chart, where American Idol-atry has truly reached critical mass. Cook's TV coronation anthem, "Time of My Life," debuted atop that chart with 236,000 downloads.

But his success hardly stopped there: "Big" David had a total of 14 songs bow on the digital songs chart. His second-biggest single of the week, "Dream Big," bowed at No. 6 with 111,000 sold, and he claimed a third entry in the chart's top 10, selling 98,000

The next American Idol will be David - but which one?
Houston Chronicle - United States - It's still unclear what we'll most remember about this year's American Idol. But it's likely not what host Ryan Seacrest repeatedly promised - the most talented singers ever! - during the early weeks of the show.

If anything, quirky details and disasters, more than the music, made this season worth watching: David Hernandez's seedy stripper past; Brooke White's do-overs; Carly Smithson's tattoos; Jason Castro's distant gaze; David Archuleta's stage dad; Danny Noriega's peculiar energy.

So what we're left with on tonight's show isn't exactly a David vs. Goliath battle - despite glaring differences in age, attitude and size.

Instead it's David vs. David.
