| ‘Amazing Race’ Keeps It Fresh |
Television Week - Detroit, MI, USA
- If you are looking for a sure thing when the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations are announced, bet on “The Amazing Race” being one of five in the reality-competition programming category. In the five years in which this Emmy has been awarded, “The Amazing Race” has won it every time. And when they added the category of host for this type of programming last year, “The Amazing Race’s” Phil Keoghan was the winner.
With those facts in mind, Mr. Keoghan would have the right to be pretty confident about the Emmy nominations, but he’s not. “I hope we’re still included in |

| Carey puts 'Price' contestants at ease |
|
|
Variety - Los Angeles, CA, USA
- Drew Carey has no problem recognizing the star of "The Price Is Right."
"It's the contestant, not the game, not the host. It's that person up there on the stage who goes on a journey, and the audience is right there with them," Carey says. "The host is just the guide. All I have to do is just show up in a good mood and be nice to everybody."
Just being modest? Sure. Carey has stepped in quite nicely actually, having the pressure to fill the shoes for icon Bob Barker, who retired last year amid tremendous fanfare. Ratings for the daytime |

| Dancing with the Stars: Joey Fatone in "Space" |
|
|
BuddyTV - USA
- Joey Fatone has had to be pretty coordinated in a variety of very different venues. As a boy bander during his time as a member of ‘N Sync, he had to master hip-hop and pop-influenced moves. As a Brodway actor in Rent and Little Shop of Horrors, he had to learn the blocking involved with modern musical theater. And as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, he had to learn the steps of ballroom and Latin dancing.
Now, for his 31st birthday, he had the chance to learn a new move: floating in “space.”

|
|
AXcess News - Georgetown, KY, USA

| CBS rings up Wednesday win with "Power of 10" |
|
|
Orlando Sentinel - Orlando, FL, USA
- CBS was way out in front Wednesday night, winning every time slot. The network's trio of victors: "Power of 10" with 8.4 million, "Criminal Minds" with 8.5 million and "CSI: NY" with 8.9 million. Drew Carey (pictured) hosts "Power of 10," and no wonder that man is laughing. Life is good, with his gigs at "Power of 10" and "The Price Is Right."
CBS averaged 8.6 million in prime time, and it seems likely that "Power of 10" will be the first sub when a CBS series falters this fall.
The rest: NBC with nearly 6 million, ABC and Fox with 3.8 |

- Drew Carey could end up pulling double duty as the host of "The Price is Right" and "Power of 10."
Game show guru Michael Davies told the industry trade magazine, Broadcasting and Cable, that Carey's "Price" schedule wouldn't keep him from hosting "Power" if it gets picked up again.
Davies, who also produces "Who Wants to be a Millionaire," created CBS's "Power of 10." CBS recently ordered four new episodes of the quiz show.

| Ben Stein -- actor, author, lawyer -- spins tales to spur students |
Colgate University News & Events - Hamilton, NY, USA
- Actor, lawyer, author, game-show host, and former White House speechwriter Ben Stein advised students crammed into Memorial Chapel Tuesday night on how they could “ruin” their lives.
Stein has published 16 books, including How to Ruin your Financial Life and How to Ruin your Love Life. Students erupted in laughter as he provided advice dripping with sarcasm:
-- Don’t learn any useful skills. Just play video games or listen to rap music.
-- Don’t learn any self-discipline. Just be a big baby all your life. Don’t study or deny yourself anything.
-- Convince yourself that you are the center of the universe. Truth is, | | Read More |

| Ben Stein: The Sky is NOT Falling! |
|
NARREIA - Las Vegas, NV, USA
- There is a lot of talk about how the sub-prime mortgage industry is wreaking havoc on the global economy. I'll have to admit that I'm not econo-geeky enough to understand how the T-Bonds are connected to the LIBOR-bone, and the LIBOR-bone is connected to the Yeild Curve-bone, or any of the other tangled, intricate web of how the lending industry is interrelated. But I do get that when 20% of the buyers are no longer able to obtain loans, it's a serious impact on the supply and demand equation.
But my view is quite myopic, focusing on how the mortgage lending | | Read More |

TV Fodder - West Roxbury, CT, USA

Of course, this year's Emmys are on Fox. They also apparently don't plan to be funny. Previous hosts include Conan O'Brien, Garry Shandling, and Ellen DeGeneres.
Seacrest will keep his pre-show hosting duties on E! Talk about an exhausting night for the guy. He really is the next Dick Clark!
The 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air live Sunday, September 16 on Fox. -- |

Nothing's been decided about who ultimately will inherit Barker's skinny microphone, however. Carey is one of several people who have been mentioned as candidates, including Rosie O'Donnell and George Hamilton. |
