'Buffy' Alum Tom Lenk Talks Comedy, Making People Uncomfortable & Getting Nude
Starpulse.com - Branford, CT, USA - Although he may still best be known for his iconic performance as lovable nerd Andrew Wells on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," Tom Lenk has been keeping quite busy since the beloved series wrapped in 2003. Lenk, a self-described "jack of all trades," has passed the time acting, writing and directing as well as creating and performing in his signature live comedy shows. While Tom has carved out a niche for himself in the world of comedy (and a reputation for regularly donning wigs and fake mustaches) he aspires to do more with his career than simply make people laugh.

That's not

Editorial: Jon Stewart's Dilemma
Jon Stewart
Dallas Morning News - Dallas, TX, USA - It's hard to figure out who's more wickedly funny: Stephen Colbert or Jon Stewart. Both late-night TV smarties can split your sides, whether it's mock conservative Colbert, with his smack-down of liberals, or genuinely liberal Stewart, with his smiling skewering of conservatives.

Their Comedy Central shows remain so hot they're regular stops for politicians trying to sell themselves to voters. Just last week, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama risked Mr. Colbert's lampooning in order to make their pitches before the Pennsylvania primary.

Both hosts have perfected what The New York Times calls a "wry, anti-political style." But while we laugh along with

For George Lopez, life's a ball
Seattle Times - United States - When ABC canceled the long-running sitcom "George Lopez" last May, there was no reason for anyone associated with the popular program to hang his or her head. "Lopez" was the second-longest-running sitcom in television history that featured Hispanic actors. "I Love Lucy" is at the top.

The show has been in syndication since September. And it's not as if the Mexican-American star of the show is hurting for things to do after his program ended following a six-year run.

Stand-up comedy, golf and film work fill Lopez's schedule — including an appearance at the Paramount tonight.

"I love doing stand-up," Lopez said. "It's

Carlin has funny way of viewing life, even now
George Carlin
Boston Globe - United States - "I quit school after ninth grade. The bet paid off."

That might seem like a bit of an understatement, coming as it does from a comedian who has spent the better part of his 50 years in show business as America's premiere stand-up comedian. But George Carlin doesn't look at things the way most people do. If he did, he wouldn't be nearly as much fun to watch.

Carlin, who comes to the Wang Theatre tomorrow, knew early on that he wanted to turn his tendency to show off into a career. He wasn't sure exactly how, but he had an idea

The cross-dressing, free-associating English comic will perform May 21 and 22 at the Benedum Center, Downtown as part of his "Stripped" tour.

Izzard, who often performs in lipstick, leather and ladies' high heels, improvises long-form monologues that range from silly to surreal. In the space of a minute, he might reference the Spanish Inquisition, Jesus meeting the dinosaurs and the American use of the word "awesome" to describe something as mundane as a hot dog. His show "Dressed to Kill" debuted on HBO and won

Dane Cook Confident He'll Keep Marathon Comedy Record
National Ledger - Apache Junction, AZ, USA - Dane Cook is confident his marathon stand-up comedy record is going to, well, stand up. That's in spite of the fact that Dave Chappelle broke Cook's three-hour, 50-minute record at L.A.'s Laugh Factory in April last year. Then, after reportedly hearing rumors of Cook's intention to grab the record back, Chappelle added a six-hour, 12-minute run in December, only to have Cook best him with his seven-hour endurance joke-telling spree Jan. 1.

And yet, asked about Chappelle coming back again, Cook says, "It isn't something we went into competitively. If anybody could get up there and entertain people for more than

Dane Cook confident his record will not fall to Chappelle anytime soon
Dane Cook
Punchline Magazine - Hackensack, NJ, USA - When asked about the prospect of Dave Chappelle breaking his current seven-hour stand-up comedy record, Dane Cook confidently but respectfully said he wasn’t worried.

“It isn’t something we went into competitively. If anybody could get up there and entertain people for more than seven hours, it would be Dave,” he adds. “But I think the seven hours will probably stand for some time.”

If you’re keeping track: in April of last year, Chappelle beat Cook’s former record of three hours and 50 minutes. Unanswered, Chappelle came back with a six hour, 12-minute performance in December. On Jan. 1, Cook did seven hours.

Will Ferrell and the dream of a multifaceted future
Will Ferrell
Los Angeles Times - CA, USA - IN this Apatowian Age of the Big Baby comedy, Will Ferrell is the undisputed avatar. He plays seriously self-absorbed characters who do not have much self to absorb. He is also, obliviously, a tantrum-throwing tease. In movie after movie and, before that, on "Saturday Night Live," he bares his midriff, he displays the ringlets of his fuzzy-wuzzy chest. Can no one stop this man from mooning? From streaking?

In his new comedy, "Semi-Pro," set in the '70s when hair was big, he plays Jackie Moon, a one-hit wonder whose single, "Love Me Sexy," allows him to own, coach and play power
