Mitchell diagnosed with cancer
New York Daily News - New York, NY, USA - Former Sen. George Mitchell has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, but he says it won't affect the timing or substance of his investigation into baseball's doping history, his law firm announced today.

DLA Piper, which Mitchell serves as chairman, released a statement quoting Mitchell's physician, Harvey Slein, as saying, "The cancer is small, low grade, and localized, and can be effectively treated and cured; the prognosis is very good."
