- Best-selling author Wally Lamb will be among the speakers at the second annual "United in Hope: Celebrating Literacy Through a Community Voice" event.
The two-hour program of entertainment, information and local celebrities will take place on Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at the High School of Commerce. Admission is free and open to the public.
Lamb, whose works have been selected twice by Oprah Winfrey for her book club, is the author of "She's Come Undone" and "The Hour I First Believed," among other books.
The "United in Hope" event is all about the importance of reading and writing.
