Montana, Golic talk about sons playing for Notre Dame
WNDU-TV - South Bend, IN, USA
- Neither will trade their time as a Notre Dame football player away.
But next season both Joe Montana and Mike Golic will be able to relieve their glory days through their sons.
Montana's son Nate will be a preferred walk-on for the Irish in 2008. He is following in Joe's footsteps as a quarterback.
Montana joked that his son will likely need a new pair of underwear after running out of the Notre Dame tunnel for the first time.
Golic's son, Mike Jr. will also join the Irish in the fall. And then the following year, Golic's other son, Jake will also become a

Editorial: Give Aaron Rodgers chance to succeed
Sheboygan Press - Sheboygan, WI, USA
- Whether the Aaron Rodgers era has already begun in Green Bay or we'll have to wait for it until he starts his first game for the Packers, one thing is certain — he's not the second coming of Brett Favre.
As much as we loved what Brett Favre did on the football field and what he meant to Wisconsin, it would be completely unfair to Aaron Rodgers to expect him to be the same player and person.
In his first news conference with state media at Fan Fest in Green Bay, Rodgers came across as someone who is ready to blaze his

Favre best ever? Maybe best highlight
San Francisco Chronicle - CA, USA
- It is not an original thought to say that Brett Favre is Wisconsin's Joe Montana. Also its Ken Stabler, its Johnny Unitas, its Dan Marino, its Troy Aikman, its John Elway, its Otto Graham, its Sid Luckman ... oh, you get the idea.
The point is, everyone should have at least one of these "greatest quarterback ever" candidates, if only to make that first boilermaker at the corner tavern go down easier.
Favre's retirement Tuesday sparked another of those tedious and contrived "Is he the best ever?" discussions among TV and radio producers across the land. It wasn't designed to reach consensus

USA Today Names Joe Montana, Jerry Rice Two Best Players of Last 25 Years
AOL SPORTS - New York, NY, USA
- USA Today finished its listing of the Top 25 NFL players of the last 25 years today, and No. 1 is Joe Montana. Last week, the paper ranked Jerry Rice No. 2.
I have some rather big problems with the list (having Tom Brady and Emmitt Smith ahead of Dan Marino was incredibly stupid), but I can't argue too much about Montana and Rice going 1-2. Montana's style of passing revolutionized NFL offenses, and Rice was the best receiver of his generation by a ridiculous margin, setting records that may never be surpassed.
Such rankings are just a fun off-season diversion, but

Montana led the San Francisco 49ers to four Super Bowl titles from 1981-1989 and compiled a .713 winning percentage, third best in the Super Bowl era, during his 15-year career.
Said Hall of Fame coach John Madden when Montana was enshrined

San Antonio Express - San Antonio, TX, USA
- NFL Hall of Famer Joe Montana has high blood pressure and he wants other people with hypertension to learn how to manage the problem.

Professional athletes are in great shape, and that is why Montana was surprised to learn in 2002, at 45 years old, he was diagnosed with hypertension. Now, Montana is tackling high blood pressure by adjusting his lifestyle and traveling the country to spread his message to others.
