Carey puts 'Price' contestants at ease |
Variety - Los Angeles, CA, USA
- Drew Carey has no problem recognizing the star of "The Price Is Right."
"It's the contestant, not the game, not the host. It's that person up there on the stage who goes on a journey, and the audience is right there with them," Carey says. "The host is just the guide. All I have to do is just show up in a good mood and be nice to everybody."
Just being modest? Sure. Carey has stepped in quite nicely actually, having the pressure to fill the shoes for icon Bob Barker, who retired last year amid tremendous fanfare. Ratings for the daytime | Read More |

CBS rings up Wednesday win with "Power of 10" |
Orlando Sentinel - Orlando, FL, USA
- CBS was way out in front Wednesday night, winning every time slot. The network's trio of victors: "Power of 10" with 8.4 million, "Criminal Minds" with 8.5 million and "CSI: NY" with 8.9 million. Drew Carey (pictured) hosts "Power of 10," and no wonder that man is laughing. Life is good, with his gigs at "Power of 10" and "The Price Is Right."
CBS averaged 8.6 million in prime time, and it seems likely that "Power of 10" will be the first sub when a CBS series falters this fall.

CAREY SQUARED |
New York Post - New York, NY ,USA
- Drew Carey could end up pulling double duty as the host of "The Price is Right" and "Power of 10."
Game show guru Michael Davies told the industry trade magazine, Broadcasting and Cable, that Carey's "Price" schedule wouldn't keep him from hosting "Power" if it gets picked up again.
Davies, who also produces "Who Wants to be a Millionaire," created CBS's "Power of 10." CBS recently ordered four new episodes of the quiz show.
"I'm very optimistic that this will be a staple on the network in the future," he said. "But we just got a pickup, so it's not like I've called | Read More |

Drew Carey shouldn't worry, attitude on soccer has changed, says Bill Livingston |
Cleveland Plain Dealer - Cleveland, OH, USA
- Iwas talking to - Name drop! Name drop! - Drew Carey the other day. The Cleveland comedian asked why so many American sportswriters hate soccer and want David Beckham to fail?
Beckham, of the "Bend It Like Beckham" Beckhams, is scheduled to play his first game for the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer tonight in a "friendly" (exhibition game) against Chelsea, although a left ankle injury could sideline him.
Carey wasn't talking about me, although he could have been at one time. I was converted at the World Cup in 1994, the first one to be held in America, soccer | Read More |

Old, familiar faces |
Globe and Mail - Canada
- Television recycles ideas, but rarely talent.
The trend in recent years toward reality-TV and younger-skewed programming has turned TV into a talent turnstile: every season introduces a new crop of people, who flare brightly, briefly, then drop off the face of the earth. Every so often, though, it’s nice to see a familiar face.
The first week of the TV critics tour saw a select few blasts from the past. Among the most notable, the incoming fall season will see the TV return of Jimmy Smits, a fine actor best known to viewers from several seasons on NYPD Blue. Smits stars in | Read More |
