| Sporty wines raise money for charity |
Rocky Mountain News - Denver, CO, USA
- Raise your glass for a good cause. And your favorite athlete.
In an unusual and surprisingly successful blend of sports and retail philanthropy, a wine company is launching its second vintage of athlete-endorsed wines that raise money for charity.
Since 2007, Boston-based Charity Wines has raised more than $400,000 for various causes through sales of wines bearing the images of athletes such as Manny Ramirez, Cam Neely and Dan Marino.
This year, the company will introduce several dozen new baseball-themed wines, including Santana's Select Merlot (New York's Johan Santana), Cabernet Glavingnon (Atlanta's Tom Glavine) and Vintage Papi (Boston's David Ortiz).

| Cowher Relaxes Into Role as Analyst |
New York Times - United States
- Bill Cowher’s summers as an adult have all been in N.F.L. training camps: as a linebacker, an assistant coach or, for the last 15 seasons, as the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He resigned in January, was hired by CBS Sports as a studio analyst for “The NFL Today,” and in a network conference room yesterday displayed a calmness at odds with his excitable sideline demeanor.
Cowher said his current state of relaxation reaffirmed his decision to leave the sidelines and that he did not miss coaching or training camp. “I don’t see myself coaching anytime in the near future,” he | | Read More |

| Favre says breaking Marino's TD record wouldn't mean a lot |
WKBT - La Crosse, WI, USA
- Brett Favre is poised to break at least 1 of Dan Marino's prestigious records this season.
But Favre told ESPN in an interview that it wouldn't mean much if he throws for seven more touchdowns to pass the former Dolphins quarterback's mark of 420.
Favre says he thinks Marino is 1 of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play.
In Favre's words -- "I've never considered myself as good or better than him and never will."
Favre is returning for his 16th season with the Packers and 17th season in the league.
He says he's fortunate he hasn't been forced into retirement because of injury or | | Read More |

| Let the debate begin ... |
Palm Beach Post - FL, United States
- If you haven’t been keeping an eye on USA Today’s countdown of the top 25 players in the past 25 years, it might be time to check it out.
You’re not going to be happy.
Dan Marino, the owner of every significant passing record and orchestrator of the best season ever by a QB, checked in today at No. 11.
Marino didn’t even crack the top 10.
I have a feeling Dolphins fans would make a case for Marino to be among the top 10 players of all time, much less since 1982.
It’s pretty easy to figure out who’s going to make the top | | Read More |
