Ct Post - New Milford resident Don Clady, of Connecticut Cruise News and the Road Poets, will attend the party of the book release for "Verse and Steel" from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Harley-Davidson/Buell on Federal Road in Danbury. Clady will join K. Peddlar, co-author, and several other writers in reading and signing the new book. Limited editions of the book will be available at the event for $16.95.

The Friends of the Danbury Library will hold their annual book sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Police Activities League building, 35 Hayestown Road. Admission is free.

The One Book, One Community selection for 2010, "The Things They Carried," by Tim O'Brien, will be the focus of a book discussion at 6 p.m. at the Haas Library on Western Connecticut State University's Midtown campus, 181 White St. The book is available to borrow from Danbury Library, or for sale at Barnes & Noble and Borders book stores.

In a year that will see the publication of his autobiography, so scandalous that it was kept under wraps for 100 years after his death, the C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main St., will host discussions of classic works by Mark Twain that reveal why he may be the greatest American novelist. A discussion of "The Prince and the Pauper," in which a begger lad, Tom Canty, changes places with Prince Edward VII, will take place at 7:30 p.m.

QUOTA International of Candlewood Valley will host the sixth annual Book & Author Luncheon at the Stony Hill Inn, 50 Stony Hill Road/Route 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature three local authors: Justin Scott, a Newtown resident and New York Times best-selling author who has co-authored the last two best-selling thrillers with author Clive Cussler; two-time Newberry Award winner and renowned children's book author Patricia Reilly Giff, of Trumbull; and national best-selling author on the Independent Mystery Book Seller List, Laura Bradford, of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., formerly of Brookfield, who writes under the pen name Elizabeth Lynn Casey. Participants will meet the authors and enjoy a three-course luncheon. The authors will speak about themselves and their work, and will be available to sign their books purchased at the event. Tickets are on sale for $30 and must be purchased in advance. This event will also be interpreted in sign language. For more information and to purchase tickets.

New Milford Public Library and the Friends of NMPL will welcome ABC political analyst and best-selling author Cokie Roberts at noon. Roberts will speak on her writing experiences, participate in a Q&A, and sign copies of her book, "Ladies of Liberty." This is a free, but ticketed event.

The Danbury Library's outside material returns have been relocated from their West Street location to the library's Bank Street parking lot. They will be open only when the library is closed. The library plans to change this arrangement when it moves into the Union Savings Bank building next door.
