Apple CEO Steve Jobs inducted into California Hall of Fame

MacDailyNews - USA - Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver have announced the inductees for the 2007 California Hall of Fame, a landmark destination of The California Museum for History, Women and the Arts. Billie Jean King, 2006 California Hall of Fame inductee, revealed the names on The California Museum’s web site, (http://www.CaliforniaMuseum.org) listing extraordinary Californians who embody California’s innovative spirit and have made their mark on history.

The California Hall of Fame formal induction ceremony will take place on December 5, 2007, at The California Museum in Sacramento.

The 2007 California Hall of Fame inductees: Ansel Adams, Milton Berle, Steve Jobs, Willie Mays, Robert Mondavi, Rita Moreno, Jackie Robinson, Jonas Salk, M.D., John Steinbeck, Elizabeth Taylor, Earl Warren, John Wayne and Tiger Woods.

“California is home to hopes and dreams for so many, and it is the people of this state who truly make it great,” said Governor Schwarzenegger, in the press release. “The California Hall of Fame provides a wonderful opportunity to honor these leaders, and legends, whose imprints are stamped forever on our history and our lives. I want people of every age to be inspired by the stories of Californians who have shaped and continue to shape this state and the world.”

“This astounding group of inductees represents the vast contributions Californians continually make to our state and beyond,” said Maria Shriver. “I am so thrilled their stories and accomplishments will be shared and celebrated so that everyone will be inspired to make their own mark on history.”

“Being inducted into the California Hall of Fame last year was deeply meaningful to me, in large part due to the other women and men who were part of the inaugural group of inductees,” said Billie Jean King. “It is an honor for me to be part of the announcement of the next legends to be inducted this year, all of whom are so very worthy of a place in the California Hall of Fame and have contributed so much to the rich history of California.”

King described Apple CEO Steve Jobs as "the innovator, entrepreneur and creative genius" in her induction comments.
