Affordable Housing Conference Begins |
WLNS - The Michigan Conference on Affordable Housing kicked off. It's the largest of its kind in the nation. Featured at the conference- a special keynote speaker. A basketball coach is getting people back in the housing market game. Coach Ken Carter fires up the crowd, but this time it's not a state championship basketball game or a Hollywood movie. Instead, this is all a pep talk about the housing market.
Coach Ken Carter, motivational speaker: "1,500 people here and we're all searching for one single thing: solutions to the housing problems of tomorrow and beyond."
And to help find those solutions, more than 25 organizations from across the state were at the Michigan Conference for Affordable Housing. Carter says it's important to see all these options. That's because...

He ran through the crowd, got people laughing and pulled people out of their seats, all to get his point across- affordable housing isn't just a game.
Coach Ken Carter: "Supporting housing is the foundation of whatever we want to do. We talk about education, but we have all these building blocks. Housing is the beginning of it all."
And to lay that foundation, this conference brings developers and homeowners together to tackle issues such as foreclosure. Carter says you need to talk to experts at this conference, get good information and put yourself back in the game.
